English III Honors is a required yearlong course for eleventh graders.  English III is composed of required writing assignments, the study of American literature, a review of grammar with the addition of more advanced concepts, required reading, and a Capstone research paper. The course includes technology-based projects and encourages creativity.

Advanced Placement English Language and Composition is a freshman college-level course designed to help students become skilled readers of prose written in a variety of periods, disciplines, and rhetorical contexts and to become skilled writers who can compose for a variety of purposes. College-level textbooks used for this AP course can contain language and/or topics that are not traditionally found in high school textbooks. Therefore, please accept the literary merit of the selections chosen in order for your student to be better prepared for the AP exam. Students will become aware of the interactions among a writer’s purposes, audience expectations, and subjects, as well as the way language contributes to effective writing.
